FRED honoured for 15 years of literacy support
The Grassroots Group of the Year award went to FRED (Forest Read Easy Deal), which has spent fifteen years providing free, confidential, one-to-one literacy support to adults across the Forest — entirely through volunteers. Around twenty coaches give roughly three hours a week each, helping local people build the confidence to read to their grandchildren, return to work and reconnect with their communities. Mons’ Chatter and Mitcheldean Community Larder were highly commended.
